Sundays With Crissy--Challenge #9

Hey there!! Welcome to my blog!! Today I want to share with you two cards I made for the Sundays With Crissy challenge. This time around it's all about "Sparkle & Shine".

I chose Crissy's sweet image called Angelicat from Squigglefly. I coloured my images with Copic markers and added glitter to the wings and halos to give my sweet little angels some sparkle. Unfortunately the pics don't do justice to my glitter :( I also used Bazzil "Bling" and foil paper for my mat to give my cards some shine. I apologize for the poor picture quality. Due to the reflective nature of my silver foil paper, it picked up the reflection of little ol' me taking the picture.

If you follow my blog at all you'll notice I have coloured these sweet kitties like my fur babies Willow & Yuki.

I also went around the border of this card in squiggly lines with a glue pen and then added the glitter to the glue for a sparkly border.

Showing you a better look at the glitter...

There's still time for you to enter your own "Sparkle & Shine" creation over at Sundays with Crissy!! If you want some more inspiration, check out the rest of our Design Team member's projects that have been posted throughout the month of September.

There's also a great prize up for grabs (pictured below) from this month's sponser--LSL Diversified!! If you enter your own "Sparkle & Shine" project and use one of Crissy's digi images your name will be put into a random draw and this fabulous candy could be yours. As always, you are free to enter this month's challenge using any other image but you won't be eligible for the draw.

Thanks for stopping by today!! Have a happy and restful Sunday!!

Blessings,

Sarah ☺

High Hopes Challenge #81--Anything Goes

Happy Sunday!! Wow it's been a whirlwind this week over at High Hopes with sneakie peekies and blog hops!! Hopefully you all had a chance to take in Dustin Pike & Melissa Jenkins' new rubber designs!! Now that the dust has settled it's challenge time and this week Lovely Lacey has told us "ANYTHING GOES!!!" I decided to do a scrapbook layout this time and thought I would use one of Melissa's designs called Free Kittens.

This stamp has special significance to me because that's what my kitties were--FREE!! Back in November '08 we lost our beloved white cat, Molly. She had been with us close to 20 years and I have to say she left a hole in our home and in our hearts. 3 weeks after she died, I was at a school fundraiser where I met this very kind man named Gerry. He had a sign at his booth advertising free kittens--2 Black, 2 White & 1 Grey. I knew it was a "sign"!! ☺

To make a long story short we met the kittens and Gerry gave us the pick of the litter!! With that came an added bonus--the mother cat needed a home too!! She had been a stray to begin with and was in dire need of some fattening up. She ended up being adopted by my parents who were in need of some feline company! She lovingly became known as Holly--the Christmas Cat.

We named our grey kitten Willow and our white kitten Yuki (Yoo-Key--Japanese for "snow") and slowly and surely they started to fill the hole Molly had left. These two are sisters but couldn't be more opposite. Willow is the uptight, talkative, scaredy-cat who goes crazy for reflective objects--especially my iPhone. She's curious and loves to watch me while I scrapbook. Yuki is kookie--she's laid back and a lot more cuddly than her sister. They both love catching and eating bugs, watching the birds, begging for chicken and cuddling up with each other. I am so thankful to have their company! Not a day goes by that they don't make me laugh!!

Well there you have a little history of Willow and Yuki--the crazy cats you see on my side bar! Here's my layout...☺

Christmas Greetings

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in awhile--just no time to craft. In late November my brother lost his fight with leukemia as some of you may already know and since then it has been a challenge to get back into routine. Thanks to those of you who have sent well wishes and have prayed for me and my family during this time...I truly appreciate your friendship and concern. Now that school is finally done and my husband is off on holidays I look forward to a slower pace and some good quality time with my family over the next couple of weeks.

With the busyness of Christmas parties, shopping, baking, cardmaking etc., it's easy for us to get stressed out and totally miss the true meaning of Christmas. Stress isn't what it's supposed to be about--it's about peace, love and joy--the total opposite of stress. I know for myself, I have to really force myself sometimes to slow down and focus on just how much God has blessed me.

It is my sincerest wish for all of you that as 2009 comes to a close you will have all the blessings of the season--treasured time with those you love, relationships restored, and great prosperity in body, soul, mind and finances! May 2010 bring great happiness, health, peace and prosperity!!

With these greetings I leave you with the lastest installment of Yuki & Willow's antics...

High Hopes Challenge #39

After a lot of rearranging, my craft space is finally the way I want it! Surprisingly when I made my card for this week's High Hopes Challenge I hardly made any mess--is that possible?! Maybe it was because my little eight month old kitten, Willow was trying to eat everything as she lay on my craft table watching, so I was careful to put everything back in it's "home" or at least away from inquiring jaws...lol!

Anyway...I decided to make a friendship card this week and add daisies as Anna, this week's DT Diva suggested.

I used Miss Zoe from High Hopes stamped with Memento--Black Tuxedo ink on Strathmore--Smooth Bristol--100 lb paper. Here's the rest of the recipe:

  • Cardstock--Bazzil Papers
  • Patterned Paper--Doodlebug--Pretty Pink Grid & Bright Ribbon Stripe
  • Sentiment--Stampabilities--I Count You Twice
  • Ribbon--Michael's
  • Die Cut--Daisy--Quickutz
  • Brads--Doodlebug
  • Media--Copic--B00, B02, E000, RV14, Y11, Y38, YR07--Prismacolor Markers--70, 71, 95, 99, 102, 202 & Touch Markers--WG4

Here's what the inside looks like...

Here are some recent pics of Willow and her sister Yuki at 8 months old...

Hey, thanks for coming by to see my blog today! Thanks Anna for the fun challenge and for all the inspiration from the High Hopes Design Team! If you haven't had a chance to check out Crissy Armstrong's latest designs over at the High Hopes Stamps Website I would encourage you to do so! The new stamps are incredible--can't wait to get my hands on some of that new rubbah!!!
Have a blessed day!

The Zilla Sisters

Happy 1/2 Birthday to Yuki & Willow!

My fur babies are growing up fast! Yuki (Yoo-Key--which is Japanese for snow) and Willow (because she's soft and grey like a pussy willow) are my rescued kitties. We got them at 10 weeks old and now they are 6 months old today. What a blessing they have added to our home! We weren't sure how we would adjust to them after having lost our previous kitty last November after having her for 19+ years. It was like losing a family member. Inspite of it these two little blessings began to fill the hole and they have made themselves at home.

They are affectionately known as the Zilla Sisters a.k.a the Zillas (Yuki Zilla & Willow Zilla) because of their kamikaze like attacks that sometimes seem to come out of nowhere. They provide comic relief many times a day and although they can be very mischievous at times I know as they settle down with maturity I am going to miss their kitten ways.

Here are some photos of my babies!
